World Series Game 7 Attracts 51 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The thrilling extended clash that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a combined 51 million spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday epic game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This came after the previous Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew 13.1M viewers, making it the most-watched World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has recorded audience growth for two straight seasons.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.
